The refurbishment and expansion of the
Hotel are a vast improvement and have turned what was a strictly
businessman’s hotel into much more of a resort hotel.
The rooms to the rear and indeed the
Restaurant and gymnasium, overlook the exquisite (public) gardens and are
of course quieter. |

A pleasant small Residençial, well
placed in the city offering modestly priced accommodation. Ideal for those
wishing to get closer to the local atmosphere then in the larger
establishments.

Tricia
and Miguel are particularly welcoming hosts and their horses will appeal
to horse lovers of all ages. Rooms are comfortable but quite small and
tastefully furnished with rustic style furniture. The location is quiet
and tranquil and the fishing village of Sao Mateus is nearby. |

A
wonderfully characterful, beautifully restored and very tastefully
furnished Manor House of the first quality. We loved the spacious sitting
rooms with their exquisite drapes. The Chapel is a masterpiece of
restoration featuring much gold leaf and reproduction statuary. To
sample this house is to understand the luxurious lifestyle of the original
owners. Very highly recommended. |

The most tastefully furnished and
elegant manor house with polished wood floors, beautiful gardens and
excellent facilities. One of the nicest we have seen. Interestingly the
Hotel Caracol’s Resident Instructor teaches Tai Chi in the peaceful
garden of Quinta Nasçe Agua. |

Opinion
A large low rise new Hotel with spacious
and welcoming public rooms and wonderful views over the pool to the sea
and Monte Brazil across the bay.
A very welcome addition to the inventory
of hotel beds in Terceira, this attractive (though with an unfortunate
choice of colour for the exterior!) Hotel offers comfortable, spacious
rooms and a wealth of facilities that will support a long duration
holiday. |

Opinion
The Hotel "has it’s back" to
the prevailing wind and thus offers shelter to it’s 2 pools & sun
decks. The proximity of the public access to the sea, the snack bar and
raft is fun but can be a bit noisy so rooms on the other side of the Hotel
are quieter. Paulo Araujo, who with his wife, who are both qualified
Physiotherapists, run the Wellness Centre with enthusiasm and panache and
offer an excellent level of Wellness treatments. |

In a superb position with an excellent
restaurant on site. One has to bear in mind that this is a "Residencial"
up graded to a three star hotel so the rooms and furnishings are neither
modern nor particularly attractive. Nevertheless the position is, I
repeat, fantastic. |
