M605 Choupana Hills Resort & Spa   *****

Choupana

A unique new complex nestling high up on the Choupana Hills and set amongst sub-tropical gardens and eucalyptus trees with spectacular views towards Funchal and the Ocean. The beauty of this resort is that it really is very unusual; it is very much "off the beaten track" with a modern contemporary atmosphere, totally different to a standard hotel. Car hire is essential.

Hotel Features:  • All rooms are bungalow-style perched on wooden pillars with verandas facing towards Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean  • All rooms are very well furnished fitted with cable television, radio, safe, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities air conditioning and heating, bathrobes and hairdryer  • Suites have heated outdoor Jacuzzis  • Xopana restaurant provides excellent local specialities, European favourites and "Fusion Cuisine", with a cocktail bar that also serves snacks and other drinks  • Lagoon style outdoor swimming pool (heated in the winter months), pool bar, and heated indoor swimming pool  • Health and Beauty Spa Treatments available  • Courtesy bus to Funchal during the day.

Our opinion
There is some African influence in the design of this "hideaway", set in this elevated spot in the forest. The climate is somewhat cooler up here, however this exclusive hotel is ideal for those who want a get-away-from-it-all venue in which to relax totally and perhaps sample the excellent range of health treatments available at the Spa
