This
century old manor house nestles amongst the vineyards on the hills of
Estreito de Camara de Lobos on the South West coast of Madeira. It is set
in pleasant and peaceful surroundings with superb views towards the
Atlantic Ocean. The fishing village of Camara de Lobos is only 4km from
the Quinta and Funchal some 15 minutes by car. A pleasant "levada"
walk starts just 100 metres from the Hotel and the village of Estreito de
Camara de Lobos is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Hotel Features: • All rooms have private balconies with table and chairs with views overlooking the vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean • Buffet breakfast (a la carte for hot dishes) taken in the restaurant • All rooms are equipped with bathrooms with Portuguese marble, individually controlled air conditioning, heating, safe, telephone, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer and cable television • Non smoking rooms are available • Reserved area in the restaurant for non smokers • Library on the top floor of the original house with panoramic views • Outdoor swimming pool with a thermostatically controlled temperature of 25 degrees, separate swimming pool for children, parasols, sun beds and towels • The "Bacchus" Restaurant offers International cuisine and the Adega de Quinta Restaurant, in the grounds of the hotel, offers excellent local cuisine • The Cypress bar serves the pool area with drinks and snacks, the Vintage bar is in the main house above the restaurant.
Our
opinion
An excellent place to stay and one that offers
comfort and tranquillity in rural surroundings whilst not too far from
Funchal. Quinta do Estreito is perfect for those who like to walk the
"levadas" but can also offer a peaceful base for a few nights as
part of an Island tour or two centre holiday. Thoroughly recommended.
