In the very centre of town, opposite the temple of Diana is this
Pousada, formerly a 15th century monastery.
The bedrooms are on the small size, well furnished and have
vaulted ceilings.

Our Opinion
Still one of the most popular Pousadas in Portugal for people
travelling through this region. Highly recommended.

On a hill overlooking the town, the historic fortress of
Estremoz was turned into a Pousada in 1970. King Dom Diniz
built the original for his wife, Queen Santa Isabel.
Today this luxurious Pousada is without doubt one of the best
Pousada´s of Portugal.

A countryside house with a difference. It has wonderful views

A 15th century fortress dating back from 1494 whose
architecture shows Gothic, Manueline and Mudejar
influences. The building is a solid square fortress with circular
towers on the north facade.
What used to be the agricultural land of a medieval castle is

Almost half way between Lisbon and Faro, ideal for those
wanting to spend a comfortable night en-route.

Pousada Location: Crato

A castle, a convent and a palace, built in different periods,
resulting in an architectural masterpiece of rare and beautiful
harmony. In 1910 it was declared a National Monument and
its reconstruction was ordered in 1940 by Duarte Pacheco.
Nearby one can try a carriage tour.

Our Opinion
This Pousada is somewhat isolated on the eastern-side of
Portugal, but it is such a strange place and well worthwhile
visiting.

Set on a hillside and surrounded by beautiful mountain
scenery lies this magnificent converted 14th century convent.
The interior is a delight, some 50.000glazed tiles lining its
walls, two Florentine style fountains and an attractive

With more than 500 years of history, the ancient village of
Alcàcer do Sal was originally an Episcopal Visigoth City. It is
now home to one of the more recently created Pousadas.
In addition to the beautiful gardens and swimming pool, the
tourist is sure to marvel at the underground museum.

Our Opinion
Many guests overnight here whilst travelling between Lisbon
and the Algarve.
