N630 Casa O Sitio Near Castelo de Paiva
O Sítio is near the hamlet of Souselo outside Castelo de Paiva on the River Douro. This house is approached up a very steep winding, rough track and up a long path of about 150m past the pool and lawn to the restored stone house. There is a ground floor living room, which has a small bar/snug area through a low stone archway complete with TV, sound system with a wood burning stove. Thick walls ensure this room is cool in the summer. A circular staircase leads to a landing with 2 very small doubles plus a single room all with limited clothes storage space, one full bathroom and a simple kitchen with dining table. Outside there is a very large terrace looking down over the pool, garden and valley to the River. This is equipped with tables and chairs for al-fresco eating and has a sophisticated built-in barbecue with gas rings, bread oven etc. The terrace is covered by a vine covered pergola. There is a wine-press room complete with wood burning range, tables, chairs etc, which is ideal for a party. Clients are entitled to sample the wines in the barrels, in return for a small subscription.

Opinion
This house provides a superb opportunity for enjoying the outside, the superb views and the lovely pool area. The house itself and the bedrooms are somewhat claustrophobic and do not compare in quality with the external facilities. Ideal for the party who wishes to simply use the accommodation for sleeping and spend their waking hours in the open air. The games room, complete with football, ping pong and snooker is an added bonus.
