N616 Moinho da Porta Near Povoa de Lanhoso  

Situated at the end of a very long rough track close to the town of Póvoa de Lanhoso this 250 year old water mill is next to a river with trout in it. Teak decking and a limited area of grass surround the rectangular pool. The pool is served by a toilet and shower room at the back of which is a log store for the wood burning stove. There is the constant noise of water rushing down the mill stream. Inside the furnishings are extremely modern and a glass plate in the hall covers the old mill wheel, with the mill stream flowing beneath. Off the living room there is a small veranda with a low roof overlooking the river. The splitlevel living/dining room has a wood burning stove in the former. Outside the kitchen there is a timber deck alongside the river with a small sloping garden. On the first floor there is a twin bedded room full en-suite bathroom and a double with full en-suite bathroom.

Our Opinion
A wonderfully isolated, quiet (with the exception of the sound of running water)Villa, beautifully furnished in an ultra modern style. This house is enormously spacious for just 4 people. From the rear deck there is a waterfall (illuminated at night) where one might catch a glimpse of trout jumping – very attractive.
