Our
opinion
An unusual property with stunning views over the river from both inside
the living/dining room and also from the elevated terrace. Very spacious
and elegant containing many pieces of beautiful furniture. Great fun is
the Saturday market in Cerveira. The nearest Airport is Vigo in Spain!

Our
opinion
Curiously enough, the modern architecture fits in very well with the very
quiet atmosphere of the property. Ideal for families with grown up
children who can be accommodated in the "Studio". There is a
River beach accessible over a Roman bridge and bathing in the clean waters
is an advantage. It is also a good area for walking and there are small
café ’s and restaurants nearby. Literally across the River is a field
in which each year in July is the Caminha equivalent of the Glastonbury
Festival – very noisy! Proximity to Caminha and the ferry to Spain is
also an advantage. Note: an Espigueiro is the small stone house used to
store and dry maize. |

A modest house in a quiet

money. |

Our
opinion
A truly delightful house, full
of character with plenty of space and set in very rural surroundings. The
small room in the Espigueiro is a romantic hideaway. The enormous games
room gives an alternative soft sitting area. Now our favourite house in
the North. |

Our
opinion
Literally in the depths of the
countryside, this very nice modern villa would suit those who are seeking
tranquillity in a rural location. Furnishings are modern but not
luxurious. The emphasis is on spacious living areas and lots of garden.
Nearby there is a river beach where you can swim. |

A unique combination of
traditional building with modern additions, the bathrooms and fittings
thereof are of the highest quality and the furnishings are most
attractive. The villa is only about forty minutes from the sea. The
reception rooms have somewhat minimalist but very comfortable modern
furnishings. It even features a working wind-up gramophone! |

Our
opinion
This house was the highlight of
our research trip and is one of our favourite houses of all those in the
North of Portugal. Its position being just five to ten minutes drive to
Praia da Âncora beach is perfect and the mixture of modern and
traditional materials used in the conversion together with the quality of
the furnishings throughout produce the most delightful holiday venue. |

Our
opinion
A very spacious elegant house
with nice pieces of furniture. The pool area is most attractive and the
covered terrace is the perfect place from which to admire the view. The
sun loungers are all teak and there is a general air of quality about the
whole premises. Restoration of the property was completed in November
2004. It is an ideal getaway break for long weekends. |

Our
opinion
A nice house with a pleasant
pool and garden. A minor irritant may be the distant traffic noise from
the Autoestrada but it is comfortable and good value for money.
Furnishings are typically Portuguese and somewhat heavy. Proximity to
Ponte de Lima is an advantage though there is a simple restaurant and
mini-market within 700m. There is horse riding in the area and of course
the Ponte de Lima Golf Course. |

Our
opinion
Very well located fairly close
to Braga, Ponte da Lima, Villa Verde etc., this very nice single story
property offers extremely peaceful surroundings and a comfortable
ambience. The bedroom layout would suite two families admirably. There is
a discount for under occupancy, and extra maid service is readily
available at a modest cost. |

Our
opinion
Very different, unusual,
rambling style establishment. Internal sitting areas are quite modest,
most time will likely be spent outside on one of the verandas or around
the pool. More suitable for families with older children rather than
toddlers. The owner lives next door in case of any difficulties. |

Our

A wonderfully isolated, quiet
(with the exception of the sound of running water)Villa, beautifully
furnished in an ultra modern style. This house is enormously spacious for
just 4 people. From the rear deck there is a waterfall (illuminated at
night) where one might catch a glimpse of trout jumping – very
attractive. |

Owned and tastefully renovated by an architect, this entire ground

Our
opinion
A large and comfortable house in
a large area of land yet very close to Oporto and set in a suburb of Vila
do Conde. The owner lives in an adjacent property across the courtyard. We
particularly liked the shaded seating area overlooking the pool and the
garden. A very pleasant property indeed. Unusually, it is not necessary to
hire a car when staying at this villa. |

Our
opinion
This is a modern house of unusual architectural design and extremely
unusual in having both and indoor and outdoor pool. Bedrooms are modest
but the remainder of the house is very well furnished to a very high
standard. The indoor pool facilities are a tremendous bonus. This house
would be useable even in the winter with central heating and the indoor
pool facilities. The excellent beach of Apúlia is only about 300m away.
The golf courses of Estela and Quinta do Barca are also close by (6 and
8.5 Kms respectively). |

Very tastefully restored and furnished.
This lovely old house is in a very rural area where fresh produce can be

adjacent to the old country road and because the area is so quiet the
occasional vehicle makes itself known. |

Our
opinion
Not exactly characterful, this
large house can accommodate a big party in large airy comfortable and air
conditioned bedrooms. There are stunning views from bedrooms and the pool
area down vine covered hillsides towards to river valley, in fact Casal de
Loivos is one of the most well known and photographed lookout points in
Douro Valley. A great property for the larger party and particularly good
value for money. |

opinion
This house provides a superb
opportunity for enjoying the outside, superb views and lovely pool area.
The house itself and the bedrooms are somewhat claustrophobic and do not
compare in quality with the external facilities. Ideal for the party who
wishes to simply use the accommodation for sleeping and spend their waking
hours in the open air. The games room, complete with football, ping pong
and snooker is an added bonus. |

A substantial, stone built,

A very large house with plenty
of accommodation. We particularly like the highly polished parquet
flooring throughout and the extended living room with it’s wonderful
views to the south. The garden itself is well manicured and the pool is
delightful. Its proximity to São Pedro do Sul, (where the public Spa
offers a variety of treatments), is a bonus. One would not expect such a
large and attractive property from the front entrance. An excellent venue
for the larger party and very good value. |

Our
opinion
An unusual house in many
senses, not least the hidden
cellar and the artificial beach. Suffering slightly
from noise from the nearby main road, it is nevertheless
a very homely and comfortably furnished
villa with an excellent pool and plenty of space
for outside eating and relaxing. Being in a growing
residential area there has been building works
relatively nearby from time to time over the last
few years. This may continue. |
